The Weekend the Bass Felt My Feelings 😆🎣

After being away from the water for what felt like centuries, I finally got my weekend back.

And apparently, the fish noticed.

Saturday started in Jangseong. I went out early and, before the day had properly warmed up, a snakehead decided to welcome me back. 😆

One fish down. Happiness restored.

Naturally, the next important part of the adventure was BBQ under a bridge. 😂 Because what is a proper fishing day without eating something under a bridge while your fishing gear is waiting nearby?

After lunch, I went back into the water and continued wading around Jangseong.

Then came an unexpected bonus.

On my way there, I spotted the Black Eagles flying toward their airshow in Gwangsan. I had completely missed the fact that the airshow was happening that day.

And the funniest part?

The show was happening ridiculously close to where I live. 😆

Of course, I was already out fishing.

So I missed the actual airshow… but somehow managed to get a pretty nice shot of the Black Eagles flying right over me.

I’ll take it. 😂✈️

Then I went back to fishing.

And maybe the bass could sense my disappointment.

Because they started biting.

Apparently, the Bass Community is very sensitive to my feelings. 😆🐟

They weren’t particularly concerned about making a grand entrance either. Big bass, small bass… honestly, who cares?

After being away from the water for so long, a bite is a welcome home message.

And besides, they all look like someone’s parents, grandparents, and ancestors anyway. 😂

Saturday wasn’t finished yet.

On the way home, just as we reached my neighborhood, the fireworks started.

So there we were, sitting at a stoplight, watching fireworks from the intersection like two people who had accidentally bought tickets to a show without buying tickets. 😆

And then, when we reached the bridge…

THE GRAND FINALE.

The fireworks were going off right in front of us, and somehow we ended up with the best view.

And the best part?

I got it on video.

At that point I decided the universe had officially made up for me missing the airshow. 😂

One day.

One fishing trip.

A snakehead, BBQ under a bridge, the Black Eagles overhead, bass that apparently understand emotional distress, and a fireworks finale.

Not bad.

Not bad at all. ❤️

Sunday: Another Reunion

This morning, I went to Hampyeong very early.

And once again, I was met by the local Bass Community.

I hooked a few of them, and honestly, that was enough. 😆🎣

After that, we headed to Naju for lunch.

And now I’m sitting here thinking…

Maybe I catch something in Naju.

Maybe I don’t.

I really don’t care.

Because somewhere along the way, I realized that I already have more than a year’s worth of therapy sitting inside these weekends.

The water.

The wading.

The quiet.

The ridiculous little surprises.

The fish that sometimes cooperate and sometimes absolutely refuse to.

The BBQ under bridges.

The unexpected airplanes.

The fireworks.

And all the little moments in between.

I don’t go fishing because I need to catch fish.

I go because this is where I feel most like myself. ❤️

And after being away for a while, I think I needed this weekend more than I realized.

Welcome back, me.

Welcome back to the water. 🎣❤️
